A stillage is a type of storage or transportation container used in various industries to hold and transport goods or materials. It is typically a rigid, pallet-like structure made of steel, aluminium, or wood, designed to provide support, stability, and protection to the items it contains. Stillages are often used for heavy or bulky items that require safe handling and storage. At Bosmere skip hire we've repurposed these for waste clearance where skip access isn't possible, such as garden clearances with access via a side gate.
The biggest difference between stillages and skips is that skips generally cannot be moved once they have been delivered due to their weight.
Stillages, on the other hand, can be easily moved around even when they are full. This makes them much more versatile than skips, especially for collecting waste over a large area, for example, garden waste.
Another key difference between stillages and skips is that stillages are much narrower than a skip. This means they can move between spaces much easier and can be used to transport waste to a larger skip, if you have a lot of waste to remove. Our stillages generally fit through most garden gates which makes them ideal for areas where access is limited. We can also combine stillage with skip hire so you can collect the waste in the stillage and transport it to a larger skip.
Stillages are versatile, durable units that are perfect for heavy or bulky items. Stillages can be easily moved around, even when they are full, which makes them much more convenient than skips, especially for those hard-to-reach areas.
